About Bandung

Bandung is densely-populated, with many universities. It’s the hub of the Indonesian textile industry. Students and migrant workers move here for work and studies, making it a strategic crossroads. It’s a place where intellectuals talk philosophy and people openly pray for spirits to influence their lives. Bandung is the cultural center for the Sundanese people, one of the least-reached groups of the world.

We love the city! Its people are some of the friendliest we’ve ever met, we enjoy the food, the surrounding countryside is beautiful, and we LOVE the weather! At night it’s a chilly 18-20º C (65-68º F) and daytime is in the upper 20s to low 30s (in the 80ºs F).

What’s not to like? Traffic on weekends is horrid, when visitors from Jakarta descend en masse. The drive between these cities (about 90 mi/150 km) can take from 2 to 12 hours, depending on traffic, on a modern multi-lane toll road. Polluted waterways (our water supply comes from what many consider to be the most polluted river in the world) and other infrastructure problems present challenges. But we love it here, and are committed to helping the city and its people as God gives strength and resources.

Would you give a one-time gift or monthly support? How about giving an hour’s salary, one-time or each month? On behalf of the people we’ll reach for Christ that you may never meet, thank you!
